Owner operators conducting car hauling duties for an American car transporter driving a Volvo heavy-duty commercial truck will be happy to hear that Westport Innovations and Volvo Powertrain have apparently signed a new deal to work together on the development of biogas and natural gas-fueled engines for a new generation of Volvo trucks. Great news for American car movers who were thinking about purchasing a new Volvo truck to help them provide outstanding car shipping services in the future and possibly reduce the carbon wheel-print of the vehicle transportation services they provide at the same time. News that certainly could lead to a new generation of clean, low-emission engines for the Volvo trucks of the future in the century of the environment.
The particulars on the products and markets the natural gas-fueled engines and engine products this partnership creates in the years ahead haven't been released at this point. This agreement will apparently see Westport Innovations and Volvo Powertrain agree on the need to develop alternatve fuel engines for commercial vehicles on the roads in the United States and share the risks involved with the development. Westport Innovations and Volvo Powertrain will both financially gain by this arrangement with each truck the partnership sells that includes their products and we can probably expect the partnership to continue to grow in time with the success of the partnerships products. The partnership between Volvo Powertrain and Westport Innovations started back in November of 2009 and began with Westport Innovations being named as a Tier 1 Development Supplier for Volvo's heavy-duty natural gas engines and associated supply chain, according to sources in the transport industry.
Plans call for the partnership to develop a natural gas-fueled engine suitable for automobile transport services that will meet present and future emission requirements that will be marketed on a timeline that both parties have agreed to. Any particulars on the timeline and when the auto transport industry of the United States of America can expect to see a new generation of clean, low-emission engines is unavailable at this time.
